The golf course sits in the foothills of the Pennines and enjoys a parkland setting with moorland views. In almost a century since its foundation, the course has developed into a par 71 eighteen hole course measuring 5651 yards for ladies and 6407 yards for men (white tees).

There are relatively few sand bunkers at Meltham, but this should not be taken as meaning the course is easy. The greens are quite narrow and the lie of the land means that the penalty for missing a green on the “wrong” side can be far worse than going into sand. Similarly, whilst the fairways may appear generous, the natural slopes mean they are much tighter than they look. The trees that line the fairways look very attractive - until your ball finishes beneath one!

Meltham prides itself on the condition of the course and during the season the greens run fast and true. The ‘jewel in the crown’ is the condition of the fairways. The turf comprises strong, wiry, Pennine grasses which give a lie appreciated by high and low handicappers alike.

Sand

Holes of particular note include the 530 yard par 5 eleventh and the scenic but challenging par 4 thirteenth, which has water and out of bounds running along the left hand side. The final eighteenth hole requires a courageous drive across the valley, especially if a good score beckons.

We hope you enjoy your round and the hospitality on offer in the club house afterwards.
