Agreements have been entered into with the landlord and the agricultural tenants of the Thick Hollins Estate, Wilshaw and the club will be in possession on the 2nd February next.

The situation and surroundings of Thick Hollins are most picturesque, the club rooms in the Hall large and commodious and the suitability of the park for a golf course has long been recognised. The limit of entries without entrance fee is 70, intending members should lose no time in sending in their applications.

The annual subscriptions for gentlemen is 2 Guineas, Ladies 10s6d, with an entrance fee for the latter.

A Memorandum of Agreement was signed on the 14th March, 1908 which set a rent of £10 for the first year and £20 for the second year."

When the club first occupied Thick Hollins Hall, conditions were very primitive , No gas, no electricity, coal fires were the only form of heating and during the hours of darkness the only illumination were five oil lamps. Some repairs were needed and furniture was sparse, 1 dozen Austrian bent chairs and a medium size table, second hand!

Only parts of the Hall were rented, described as the Dining room, billiard room lavatory, storeroom and two pantries, all on the ground floor.

A Caretaker was engaged, Mr.Sam Ellis, initially at 2/6d a week, later increased to 10/0d a week, for which he did Caddy Master duties. Most of the members wouild travel to the club by bus or train.
