Captain's message (2010/11)

Welcome to Meltham Golf Club, a friendly club that values all members and provides a warm welcome to visitors to the Club. The Meltham experience is a blend of challenging Heath/Parkland 18 hole course with tree lined fairways, babbling brooks and lake features and tricky to read greens, all set against the splendour of the Pennine hills. Catering facilities in the clubhouse are regarded amongst the best in the area adding to a positive experience that attracts a full membership and both regular and new visitors.

2010 sees the 40th anniversary of the visit to Meltham of the then reigning US Masters Champion, Billy Casper, who shot a new professional course record -1 par. Mr. Casper said of the course “this is a no fools course” and found the subtle borrows on the greens difficult to read. That said, the course is enjoyed by all levels of golfers who can judge themselves against the 3 times major winner at the peak of his powers. I would particularly like to welcome our new members and I look forward to golfing and socialising with you over the next 12 months. I wish all our teams and individuals representing the club a successful season for 2010/2011. Let’s continue to put Meltham Golf Club on the map. To all members, I hope that this is the year that everything comes together and, most importantly, that you enjoy your golf and that you make the most of being part of this marvellous club.
